App password rejected

What happened, what it means, and what to do next.

Jump to a section

What to do

  1. Re-open your Google Account → Security → 2-Step Verification → App Passwords.
  2. Delete the old App Password and create a new one (16 characters).
  3. Copy it into Snapattic exactly — no spaces needed, we ignore them.
  4. Reconnect.

Common causes

  • A typo, or an extra/missing character.
  • The App Password was deleted or expired in your Google Account.
  • You pasted your account password instead of an App Password. We never accept or store your account password.

Good to know

Snapattic only reads your mail. It never modifies, moves, flags, or deletes anything, and it connects with an App Password so your account password never leaves your browser. If Gmail says IMAP is unavailable, see IMAP access is unavailable.
