This account type blocks app passwords

Some accounts do not allow app passwords, so Snapattic cannot sign in with one:

  • Google Advanced Protection Program accounts.
  • Some work or school (Google Workspace) accounts whose admin disabled app passwords or IMAP.

What to do

  • If your personal account uses Advanced Protection, stop here rather than weakening the account’s security. The current Gmail App Password release path does not support that account.
  • For a work/school account, ask your administrator whether app passwords and IMAP can be enabled.

Current boundary

Gmail OAuth/API recovery is staged research, not an enabled scan path. Do not bypass an account’s security policy or use an account password to make the RC connect.

Good to know

Snapattic never asks for your account password. If an account can’t issue an app password, we would rather tell you plainly than compromise your security.
