# Access was revoked

What happened, what it means, and what to do next.

Your app password is no longer valid. This usually happens because the **account password** was
changed — which silently invalidates every app password on the account.

## What to do
1. In Google Account → **Security** → **2-Step Verification** → **App passwords**, create a new
   app password.
2. Paste the new 16-character app password into Snapattic and reconnect.

## Why this happens
Changing your Google password (or removing 2-Step Verification) revokes app passwords for your
safety. Recreating one takes about a minute.

## Good to know
Nothing on your computer is affected — your recovered photos stay where they are, and your recovery
progress is saved. Reconnect with the new app password and resume.

## Mail access versus purchase access

Removing a Gmail App Password revokes future mail access only. It does not delete photos already
saved on your Mac, remove local purchase access, refund a purchase, or revoke server-side restoration.
The release-candidate guide supplied with the invited build covers separate mail credential,
purchase access, and data-removal steps.
