## Mail access

### What Snapattic can and cannot do to your mail

Snapattic constrains what its own code does even when a provider credential could technically do more. It connects directly to the selected provider over TLS IMAP. Each mailbox is opened with `EXAMINE`, and message and attachment parts are fetched with `BODY.PEEK` so unread messages stay unread.

Snapattic does not issue `STORE`, `MOVE`, `COPY`, `EXPUNGE` or `APPEND`, and it never opens an `SMTP` connection. “Read-only” describes Snapattic’s tested application behaviour; a provider-issued sign-in can technically allow more.

## You never give it your real password

Sign-in follows your mail provider’s secure setup. Gmail, iCloud Mail, Yahoo Mail use a provider-issued app password. Personal Microsoft accounts use browser sign-in. Personal Microsoft accounts only. Work and school accounts are not supported.

Credentials are session-only by default. If you deliberately choose to remember access in the Mac app, it is kept in macOS secure storage and remains bound to that provider and mailbox. You can forget it in the app and revoke it at the provider whenever you are finished.

## Where your photos go

1. **Your mail provider.** Snapattic connects directly over encrypted IMAP using your chosen provider setup.
2. **Snapattic on this Mac.** Photo attachments are validated, deduplicated and reviewed locally. Search checkpoints and review items stay local.
3. **A folder you control.** Committed photos become ordinary files. Removing Snapattic does not remove those files.

Mail content, attachment bytes, filenames, photo paths, hashes, scan counts and provider credentials are not sent to a Snapattic service. Stripe-hosted Checkout handles payment details. The licensing service handles only purchase and restoration data for the mailbox; it does not receive your mail, photos, app password or sign-in token. There’s no waitlist and no account to create. Come back here when it’s ready.

## Data on your Mac

Accepted photos are ordinary files under your Pictures folder, separated by account and email year. Downloaded small or likely non-photo images can remain in a local review folder rather than the main archive.

Snapattic also keeps local settings, resume checkpoints, preview records, and deduplication information in its macOS application-data directory. Removing the app bundle does not automatically remove those files or the photos you saved.

- **Photo processing:** On your Mac
- **Mail behaviour:** Read-only; no message-state changes
- **App telemetry:** None
- **Website measurement:** None; no analytics, cookies or tracking scripts
- **Snapattic services:** No mail or photo storage; licensing only

## Privacy on this website

This is a static information site. It sets no cookies and loads no analytics or tracking scripts, and the app adds no telemetry; mailbox and photo bytes never leave your Mac. Netlify, which hosts the site, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, requested page, time and browser) to deliver and secure it.

### No waitlist

There’s no waitlist and no account to create. Come back here when it’s ready. Nothing is collected from this page.

## Support and security contacts

- **Support contact:** [barryhand+snapattic-support@gmail.com](mailto:barryhand+snapattic-support@gmail.com?subject=Snapattic%20support)
- **Security contact:** [barryhand+snapattic-security@gmail.com](mailto:barryhand+snapattic-security@gmail.com?subject=Snapattic%20security)

Both channels reach the publisher’s monitored inbox. Keep private mailbox, photo, credential, token and payment data out of every message.

## Revoke, forget, and remove

1. Stop finding and saving photos, then quit Snapattic.
2. Use the app's forget control if you chose to remember provider access.
3. Revoke the dedicated app password or Microsoft sign-in consent in the provider's security settings.
4. Delete saved photos and local app data only if you also want those local files removed.

Revoking provider access stops future mailbox access. It does not delete photos already saved on your computer. Local deletion is irreversible, so review what you want to keep first. The [access-revocation guide](/snapattic/support/access-revoked/) covers reconnection after access is removed.

## Questions about privacy

For setup or finding-and-saving feedback, share only aggregate results. For an entitlement problem, share the provider name, canonical mailbox, and minimum receipt reference only. Never send an app password, sign-in token, account password, mail content, saved photo, local path, raw log, hash, license token, card detail or promotion code.
